Guide to finding your ring size
- Make sure your fingers are at a normal temperature. If your fingers are warm, they may be swollen. If they are very cold, they may become thinner.
- Measure the finger you want the ring for. Depending on whether you are right-handed or left-handed, the dominant hand will have larger ring sizes.
- How narrow or wide the ring is will affect your size choice. If the ring is very narrow (1-2mm) you should go down a size. If the ring is wide (5mm +) you should go up a size. Most signet rings are wide.
How to find ring size
Method 1- Ask an Expert
I recommend going to a jewelry store. Most offer a free ring size measurement.
Method 2 - Measure circumference
Take a piece of string or a strip of paper around the finger you want the ring for. Take the string around your finger and mark the point where the string meets the starting point. Place the string next to a ruler to read the length. Do this several times to ensure you have the correct measurement. For example, if the piece of string is 5.6 cm, your ring size is 56.
Method 3 – Measure the existing ring.
Use a caliper or ruler to measure the inside diameter in millimeters. This must be done very accurately to give the correct size. Multiply this by 3.14 to find your ring size.
